2017 Spring Regional Workshops to Feature National Expert on Student Veteran Success

CMVE is pleased to offer its second annual spring regional workshop series on the following dates: March 20 at Oakland University; March 21 at Grand Valley State University; March 22 at Michigan State University; April 10 at North Central Michigan College; and April 11 at Northern Michigan University. This year’s theme is Scaling Veteran Success Strategies to Your Campus Resources and the workshops will feature a speaker from Operation College Promise, a national policy, research, and education program supporting the transition of military-affiliated students “To, Through, and Beyond” their postsecondary advancement. MI-litary Equivalency Project ACE Webinar – January 26, 2017 at 1PM

Was your New Year’s Resolution to get caught up on the MI-litary Equivalency Project? The next webinar in the project series features ACE and MI faculty reviewers from Oakland University and Western Michigan University who will discuss their involvement in the credit recommendations process and suggestions for mapping ACE credit to your institutional catalogs. Webinar: Student Veterans – In Their Own Words is February 7, 2017 at 10AM

This webinar features David Chrisinger (University of Wisconsin) and Joe Grimm (Michigan State University). David and Joe have extensively interviewed student veterans and written about those experiences in their respective books. They’ve also used writing assignments to engage student veterans in their classes as they process their military separations and are eager to share the results of this practice with other instructors. CMVE Shows Up Strong in Victory Media’s 2017 Military Friendly Schools Listing

Congratulations to the many CMVE institutions that were recognized in Victory Media’s 2017 Military-Friendly Schools listing! In total, there were 14 CMVE member institutions and a number of affiliate members recognized as military friendly with top designations given to Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, Lake Superior State University, Michigan Technological University, Northern Michigan University, Northwestern Michigan College, Saginaw Valley State University, and Western Michigan University. MCMC Mentioned in TIME Magazine

The work of the Multi-State Collaborative on Military Credit (MCMC) that Michigan is highly involved in was recently mentioned in a TIME magazine article. Check it out for more information on the plight of veterans to receive credit for the competencies gained during their military service.
