Inspirational  Veteran’s Day Activities on Campuses Throughout the State
It has been inspiriting to see and hear about all of the incredible activities and events honoring veterans on CMVE campuses around the state this week! On Veteran’s Day, and always, we salute our state’s veterans and all of you who work diligently to serve them in higher education. Thank you ALL for your tremendous service! (And, for the Marines out there, Happy Birthday today!)

Kognito Challenge Grant Early Awards
It was exciting to award $500 Kognito Challenge Grants this week to Mid Michigan Community College, University of Michigan – Flint, and Kirtland Community College! Remember, you can check your campus’s progress on CMVE’s website and Katie will be in touch when your target is reached to initiate your receipt of the grant award. 

New Steering Committee Member
Eric Wuestenberg’s recent nomination to serve on the CMVE Steering Committee as Chair of the SVA/Student Support Knowledge Community was approved and Eric will begin serving in his new role immediately. Eric is a United States Air Force Veteran and currently serves as Coordinator for Veterans Support Services at Oakland University.

CMVE Featured in Rural Monitor
The CMVE organization and one of our own student veterans from Kirtland Community College were featured in October 2017’s Rural Monitor article Organizations Help Veterans Transition into Healthcare Careers.

Michigan Meet-Up Planned for SVA National Conference in San Antonio, TX
I am looking at planning a Michigan meet-up during the upcoming Student Veterans of America (SVA) National Conference. Please let me know if you are planning to attend the conference so I can add you to my distribution list for more details on the event as they become available.
