Michigan Veterans Lead

CMVE’s 1st annual student veteran leadership symposium is presented in partnership with Student Veterans of America (SVA) and the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) and generously sponsored by the Kresge Foundation and Quicken Loans. A student veteran planning committee has assisted with program development, meeting virtually with event staff periodically since January 2018. This committee has recommended the following objectives for this program:

  1. Collective Encouragement – Michigan’s student veterans are “in this together.”
  2. Personal Development – Maximizing student veteran talent is critical for the future.
  3. Professional Networking – Capitalizing on veteran talent in the civilian workplace is a win-win.

At this time, registration is only available to currently enrolled service members or student veterans and SVA Chapter Advisors. Priority registration deadline for lodging assistance is 5PM on May 4, 2018.

Win $500 For Your Student Veteran Organization In our Video Competition!

As part of this program, student veteran organizations in Michigan are invited to participate in a competition to act as a practice round in completing part of the requirements for the annual Student Veterans of America (SVA) chapter grant program. While SVA’s program involves multiple elements, we are focusing on #3, the “elevator pitch” that asks your chapter to demonstrate your need with a creative 30-90 second video.

Read more about SVA’s Chapter Grant Competition and find more information on the video portion and upload instructions on the Creative Pitch Assignment Sheet. To participate in Michigan’s program, one person from the participating chapter must email Eric Wuestenberg the Vimeo link to view your completed video before 5PM on Friday, May 25, 2018.
